These lovely horses are replicas of similar pieces from the Tang dynasty (618 - 907 AD). Horses were first domesticated in China over 5,000 years ago and have played a significant role in the country's history and development. During the Tang period both the number and quality of horses greatly increased in China, with improvements in breeding and through imports from Arabia and they became greatly revered. These reproductions are cast in bronze, and go through an 'antiquing' process to give the final finish.
